Storytelling through snapshots
My first memory of being behind the camera was on a holiday to Florida in 2006. In the humidity of the July Sun, my brother and I were gifted disposable film cameras to capture shots of the STS-121 space mission. The results were a mix of blurry family shots and finger-covered landscapes. Turns out, I was not a prodigy. But I had so much fun.
I’m inspired by the Japanese philosophy Wabi-Sabi. Centered around the acceptance of imperfection, this worldview encourages us to find beauty in the simple transient stages in life. To not always seek perfection. I apply this concept my personal photography by decentering the idea of technical perfection and focusing on encapsulating the feelings of a moment. The curated images featured in this section are shot on a Minolta Riva Zoom and Sony Camcorder without the use of additional lighting. Enjoy.
